You may not have heard of Sound City, but you've heard Sound City. From Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl comes a look into the unassuming studio that redefined the world of music as we know it.
Sound City Official Trailer

Roswell Films Presents: Sound City. A Film by Dave Grohl. Coming February 2013. Preorder available now at http://soundcitymovie.com

You may not know the name Sound City off the top of your head, but you know its work by heart: Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Cheap Trick and many other legendary performers worked out of the studio. Sound City is a new film that explores the life of the place that produced countless classics.

Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters got his first taste of the studio while recording Nevermind in his early years with Nirvana. Now he's revisiting it as a director, telling the story that made Sound City a staple in the industry.

Today we're celebrating not only the confirmation of the film's premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, but also Grohl's announcement that it will be released as an HD digital download and stream on Feb. 1 via soundcitymovie.com.

Word is, the pre-order price is only $10 and is available to send as a digital gift through iTunes. Otherwise, you can grab your friends and check it out on the big screen soon enough.

Sound City showcases colorful dialogue with many of the world's top artists and producers, surrounding the crown jewel recording console that brought their work to life. It tells the story of an organic work ethic that survived the wave of technological advancement many believe has undone the raw roots of music's past.

Music and documentary connoisseurs alike will love this flick!

Lincoln makes history with Critics' Choice nominations

The Critics' Choice Movie Awards have a thing for Steven Spielberg. Or should we say Abraham Lincoln? Either way, the director's latest film leads the pack of the 2013 nominees.

Lincoln

Is Lincoln the one to beat at next year's Oscars? The Broadcast Film Critics Association seems to think so. Tuesday morning, the film was nominated for a record-breaking 13 Critics' Choice Movie Awards. Grab a glass of cold water, because the competition is heating up!

Lincoln wasn't the only one to go above and beyond expectations. The musical Les Miserables scored 11 nominations. They'll both duke it out for Best Picture alongside Argo, Django Unchained, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Life of Pi, The Master, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty.

In the acting categories, there are a few notable additions. Quvenzhane Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild scored two nominations: Best Young Actor/Actress and Best Actress, where she'll battle the likes of Jessica Chastain , Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard .

Plus, Matthew McConaughey is still riding Magic Mike's wave of success. His role as a strip-club owner earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Fingers crossed that his country twang and leather chaps make it to the Oscars.

Man of Steel trailer: First glimpse of Zod!

Do you want more Man of Steel? A new trailer's hit the net and it features Superman and his archenemy General Zod. There's also a little Lois Lane thrown in for good measure.

Michael Shannon

Warner Bros has released the second trailer for next year's Man of Steel. It's the latest big-screen reboot of the Superman franchise that stars Henry Cavill as the title character.

Unlike its predecessor, this trailer reveals more characters and story. Clark Kent is having some serious identity issues. He knows he's different, but is told to conform and hide his abilities. We see several shots of a young Clark facing such conflicts and being comforted by his mother .

Aside from seeing Cavill in the famous suit and holding hands with Lois Lane , there's the introduction of General Zod. Oscar-nominee Michael Shannon plays the famous villain who plans to rule Earth with an iron fist.

The trailer gives us our first look at Shannon in costume. He's vastly different from Terence Stamp's version of the character in Richard Donner's Superman and Superman II.

On the downside, we never hear Zod speak. He just gazes into the distance. He also never shares a scene with Superman himself. We guess they're saving the Kryptonian confrontation for the final trailer.

Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

From Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures comes Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, directed by Zach Snyder. The film also stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Henry Lennix, Christopher Meloni and Laurence Fishburne.

Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and executive-produced by Christopher Nolan . The film opens in theaters June 14, 2013

The Hobbit gossip: Scandals and animals

$
0
0
If a movie hopes to become a blockbuster, it better have some sort of controversy, scandal and/or juicy gossip leading up to the premiere. The highly anticipated The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has had its fair share of pre-premiere gossip and scandal…

The HobbitAnimal scandal

Animal wranglers from The Hobbit trilogy have accused the production company of being responsible for 27 animal deaths. Four wranglers who worked on the movies say that the farm where the animals were kept during production was full of dangers and hazards that contributed to the death of more than two dozen animals. Director Peter Jackson adamantly denies the charges, maintaining that animal welfare was a top priority and that many of the animals in the movies are actually computer-generated. A production spokesperson has said that two horse deaths were unavoidable and an investigation is underway to determine if there is any truth to the wrangler’s charges. This could make movie-goers a bit uncomfortable wondering if the animals onscreen are real and, if so, did they meet with an untimely demise?

Fast frames

The Hobbit is the first major film to use 48 frames per second as opposed to the traditional 24 frames per second. Since the movie premiered at the end of November in New Zealand, some movie-goers have complained that the speed and definition of the movie actually made them nauseous. Those who have previewed The Hobbit either loved the technological advancement of 48 frames per second or found it distracting. Either way, any time a production company pilots something new, you can expect that movie audiences will show up in droves to decide for themselves.

Orlando Bloom

For a lot of women, the promise of seeing Orlando Bloom might be the only thing that lures them to The Hobbit. But they will be sorely disappointed, as Orlando does not appear until the third installment of The Hobbit trilogy, There and Back Again. Sorry, ladies, you’re going to have to wait until July 2014.

Director resigned

After dedicating two years to bringing Tolkien’s classic The Hobbit to the movie screen, then-director Guillermo Del Toro bailed. Del Toro blamed "the most difficult decision of his life" on movie delays and the split between now-director Peter Jackson and Del Toro has played out as nothing short of professional and friendly. Of course Hollywood insiders think there is more to the story. Did Del Toro split due to artistic differences? Did he think Jackson was insane for turning a 300-page book into a movie trilogy? Will Del Toro gloat if The Hobbit doesn’t receive any Oscar nods? Only time will tell.

Side Effects poster features Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum

Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jude Law star in the upcoming thriller Side Effects, the final theatrical production from Steven Soderbergh. The medicine wasn't supposed to do this...

Open Roads Films has just released the latest poster for its upcoming psychological thriller Side Effects, and it has us champing at the bit. Although the dark role is nothing new for Rooney Mara , this will be a fresh and trying portrayal for Channing Tatum.

Side Effects is the final film from director/producer Steven Soderbergh and as the title implies, the movie explores the unintended consequences of a new prescription anxiety drug.

Emily Hawkins just wanted to get better. Her nerves were consuming her from within concerning the upcoming release of her husband from prison, but the pills her psychiatrist gives her send her on a downward spiral no one saw coming.

Her upscale New York life gets thrown into a world of violence and mystery and the drug, Ablixa, has made her the central pawn in it all. From the looks of the trailer, this is packed full of love, lust, danger, murder, evasion and twisted motivations that will surely move the film into a climactic realm.

Side Effects hits theaters Feb. 8, so be sure to check back here at SheKnows for all your news leading up to the premiere!

Glenn Close, Nick Nolte to be aging rock gods

Stars Glenn Close and Nick Nolte have signed on to Always On My Mind, a drama about a former rock star, his wife, and his disease.

Nick Nolte and Glenn Close

It's easy to picture Nick Nolte, the subject of perhaps the most disheveled celebrity mug shot of all time, as a washed-up something-or-other. But Nolte as a rock god? That takes imagination.

Fans will have to exercise theirs when Always On My Mind, a drama about a couple dealing with Alzheimer's, hits the screen.

Sounds like a depressing subject for a movie: Rock star fails to die young and pretty, spends his golden years developing Alzheimer's while his wife picks up the pieces of his errant existence.

But Always On My Mind is written and will be directed by Chris D'Arienzo, responsible for both the wonderful Broadway musical Rock of Ages and its awful film adaptation, Rock of Ages.

So Always On My Mind holds unusual interest for rock fans, as D'Arienzo is so adept at writing about the music business. Rock of Ages continues to tour, and was nominated for multiple Tonys.

Rock of Ages didn't perform as well, grossing a pathetic $56 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The movie's production budget was $75 million.

Rock of Ages or flop of ages?>>

That despite a shirtless Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin in a wig that must have weighed 80 pounds.

Both Nolte and Close are having career upswings: Close connected with audiences on television's Damages as well as at the movies with the drama Albert Nobbs.

Celebrity Mug Shots: Nick Nolte>>

Nolte will appear in the major release Gangster Squad with Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn on January 11. He also has a role in the Jason Statham crime thriller Parker, due March 8.

But to us, he'll always be the star of one of the most hilarious mug shots ever. Go ahead, click on that link just above this. Then picture that guy onstage with a guitar. Hee hee hee.

Johnny Depp's hanging up the sword for the saddle in this brand-new trailer from Disney and the crew that brought us Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a time in the West when "good men must wear masks," as the voiceover declares.

The Lone Ranger is a revamped look at the untold tale of John Reid , a man of the law who transforms into a legend of justice, as recalled by the Native American spirit warrior, Tonto .

The perfect balance of humor and unbridled action, The Lone Ranger explores the Wild West journey that pairs the two unlikely partners against corruption and greed. Tonto's convinced that Reid is the hand of righteousness he's been waiting for, and he even brandishes a fitting badge.

The crooks may think Reid is dead, but they'd better think again, because he's coming for them and he's got all the wit and craft of Tonto behind him each and every step of the way.

With shootouts and dynamite, bows and arrows, train chases and horse whispering, this trailer gives us just a glimpse of the vibrant ride this movie's sure to take us on.

And luckily for us, the producers stuck to a formula that works. Tonto appears as though he could be Captain Jack's brother from another mother. Sure he's swapped out the dreads for some braids and the Black Pearl for a stallion, but they're letting Depp do what Depp does best.

Helena Bonham Carter and Tom Wilkinson also join the cast, making for quite the ensemble.

The Lone Ranger rides into theaters July 3, 2013, and we can't wait!

Warm Bodies posters shine light on dark humor

It takes some brilliance to use zombies to make a compelling love story but these new posters have us convinced Warm Bodies nailed the endeavor. Talk about a play on words!

It's original to say the least. Love is the figurative and literal answer to bringing life back to the undead in the upcoming film, Warm Bodies.

The movie's catching a lot of hype as zombies and the whole apocalypse craze nears closer to Mayan red flag date, Dec. 21, but if we survive into February we'll get a chance to see for sure if the movie accomplished its goal.

It's dark comedy to the max: Boy meets girl. Boy digs girl. Boy must learn not to eat girl.

Okay, so it's not completely the rom-com you've come to know and love but that's what gives this potential and I, for one, am stoked there's going to be a decent Valentine's Day movie out I'd actually consider seeing.

Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer star in the film and, more recently, these awesome posters that we couldn't wait to share with you graciously debuted online from the people over at Summit Films.

They might be turbo-puns, but they had me laughing and I hope you like them, too.

Warm Bodies storms into theaters Feb. 1, but until then, check out the trailer and cycle back to SheKnows for all your entertainment needs!

Bruce Willis kicks butt in newest G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer

Okay, okay, maybe theG.I. Joe films don't have the most compelling plot in the world but they're trying. And at least they're stepping the game up a bit with the addition of Bruce Willis to the cast.

Willis joins forces with the G.I. Joes including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Channing Tatum. So you've got that going for you, too. If your little guy is begging to go see the next chapter when it heats up this March let him enjoy the explosions and all the good guy-bad guy stuff while you just bask in more time with Tatum.

All joking aside, G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars much of the staple cast from the first go, but the enemy seems to have gotten the upper hand. Zartan has infiltrated the elites in control of the world's armed forces and crept his influence so far as into the authority of the US President. It's a bad and dangerous time to be a Joe.

The Joes are on their own and to say there's a lot at stake is the understatement of the century. The surviving crew must band together, relying on the military training and expertise to fight back before all is lost.

This newest trailer promises lots of combat and action that's probably in better taste than most video games targeted towards your little guy. Yeah, guns and explosions may not have the most substance in the world but perhaps they'll entertain your dude long enough to express lessons of courage, loyalty, duty and teamwork.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation shoots into theaters March 29 and is not yet rated, although our best guess predicts it'll be in the PG-13 range.

SAG Awards withhold their carrots from The Master

$

The film was considered one of the frontrunners for awards season, but the SAG Awards today proved that may not be true. But did Joaquin Phoenix's comments in October hurt their chances?

Joaquin Phoenix

Since it was released earlier this year, critics have been talking about The Master’s chances during awards season. But when the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were released Wednesday morning, it proved those critics might be wrong.

"For a time, he was this year's coveted favourite for best actor, but the Oscar bellwether that is the Screen Actors Guild Awards snubbed Joaquin Phoenix and his critically acclaimed movie, The Master, as its nominations were announced on Wednesday," said The Guardian.

But if Phoenix has been honest in recent interviews, he is not crying over the lack of nomination, for himself or his movie.

"Amid howls of outrage from fans of Phoenix, there was speculation that he had shot himself in the foot with his recent bad-mouthing of the awards season and the Oscars in particular," said the newspaper.

Back in October, the actor spoke out about his distaste for awards season.

"It's totally subjective. Pitting people against each other... It's the stupidest thing in the whole world,” he said, according to the LA Times. "I never want to have that experience again. I don't know how to explain it — and it's not like I'm in this place where I think I'm just above it — but I just don't ever want to get comfortable with that part of things. It's a carrot, but it's the worst-tasting carrot I've ever tasted in my whole life."

Philip Seymour Hoffman earned the only nomination for the film, for Best Supporting Actor. And while many movie experts are saying it could be that Phoenix’s comments hurt the movie, one other snub may dispel that idea.

"It's probably a factor but the fact that they did not nominate Amy Adams suggests that they are not responding to the film," Oliver Lyttelton, a film blogger told The Guardian. "The Master seems to turn off as many people as it turns on."

Another film critic, Kristopher Tapley, an editor with Hitfix.com, said the idea that many didn’t appreciate the film was an important factor for its awards possibilities.

"If anything is holding Phoenix — or Amy Adams, by the way, who also didn't make the cut where many thought she would — it's simply that The Master isn't resonating."

The SAG awards nominations could be a fluke for a movie, but they will find out when the Golden Globe and Oscar nominations are announced in December and January.

With the success of TheLord of the Rings , you would think director Peter Jackson would have picked a household name to play the lead role. Instead he chose Martin Freeman to play Bilbo Baggins. Freeman is known for his role in the BBC version of The Office, for playing Dr Watson in Sherlock and for his part in our favorite Christmas movie, Love Actually. Jackson felt so strongly about Freeman playing the role of the hobbit, that he worked around Freeman’s Sherlock schedule. He does sort of make the perfect hobbit, wouldn’t you say? Early reviews of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey claim the movie has a comedic element to it, which Freeman is a proven fit for.

So, why is The Hobbit a big deal?

Good question. To understand it, you need to remember that The Hobbit actually reads more like children’s literature. So if you didn’t read this in junior high, you missed it. For some of us it is the equivalent of a Judy Blume book, or The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or James and the Giant Peach. Anytime a childhood classic is turned into an epic movie series, people go a little crazy wondering how their mental version of a beloved story will compare with the cinematic version.

What’s with that creepy Gollum dude?

With his freakishly huge eyes, hairless body and spooky language patterns, Gollum is the sort of creature that will haunt us for many nights to come. Gollum is just one of the strange beasts in this creature feature. There are also trolls, dragons, giant spiders, goblins and elves. This is all part of The Hobbit’s appeal — adventure, fantasy and Middle-Earth-like creatures.

Will my life have more meaning and purpose if I go see the movie?

That’s hard to say. Reviews of early screenings have been mixed — fans seem to love it but critics feel it is too long and doesn’t measure up to TheLord of the Rings. Some love the 3D high definition 48 frames per second rather than the traditional 24 frames per second. It made other movie-goers sick to their stomachs. A point that all seem to agree on is to read the book first. It is richer in detail and director Peter Jackson made three movies out of one book, so content has been added to accomplish this goal.

Anne Hathaway & Hugh Jackman transform for Les Mis

Working on an epic musical like Les Miserables put a strain on the actors both physically and vocally, but also bonded the cast to one another.

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman

Do you hear the people sing? Well, that time is finally here and you'll be hearing some of the hottest actors in Hollywood sing their hearts out, but their voices weren't the only thing they transformed for their roles in the heartbreaking musical Les Miserables.

At a recent press conference, Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman revealed all the secrets from behind the scenes as they transformed not only their looks, but their relationships with each other in filming Tom Hooper’s long-awaited movie musical.

Is Hugh Jackman up for the next X-Men?>>

Jackman, starring as convict-on-the-run Jean Valjean, had to change his appearance in such a way that his family wouldn't even recognize him. In the story, Inspector Javert and Valjean meet and then minutes later, eight years have passed, and Javert has no idea he is face-to-face with the escaped convict, which meant Jackman had to look completely different.

"I couldn’t just take a fake beard off and put on a grayer wig. I did lose a lot of weight and then had the joy of putting weight on, a 30-pound journey from the beginning. All that pales in comparison to what this lady [Anne] did. At least I had time to prepare for doing it," admitted Jackman. "Annie did it in 14 days, I think she lost about 300 pounds."

Anne Hathaway did lose a lot of weight to play the starving and desperate character of Fantine, who becomes so destitute that she has to sell her teeth and her body and her beautiful flowing locks.

Hathaway was so devoted to her role that she agreed to have her hair chopped off while filming. But was she sorry after committing to losing all of her hair on-screen?

"I did cut my hair and I’m only sorry when I spend time with Amanda Seyfried [who plays Fantine's grown-up daughter Cosette] whose hair is so beautiful. But I am not sorry. I offered Tom the option of cutting my hair. It was always something that I knew I would be willing to do for a character if it was right," Hathaway revealed. "It’s such a devastating scene in the book, I thought doing it for real might raise the stakes a bit for a character. As an actor, it was great to be able to authentically communicate a physical transformation."

Tiny Anne Hathaway freaks about her weight>>

But Hathaway wasn't going to let just anyone take scissors to her head on camera! Jackman said, "Annie’s hair stylist is obviously a man, but in the film he is in a dress so they had an actual hair stylist to cut her hair. You will notice man hands in a dress. And Annie said if you end up cutting my scalp and there’s blood, fantastic, let’s go for it. I put my hand up: 'For the record, I would like makeup.'"

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman may have had the most grueling roles of the film, so it's no surprise that they came across as the most bonded co-stars. The two grew so close that Hathaway couldn't stop gushing about Jackman's immense talent. "I don’t want you to walk out charmed by Hugh Jackman. We all know that he is a miracle. We all know that he can make friends with everyone. And I think that sometimes keeps people from seeing his genius as an actor. What he does in this film is inspiring and we were all inspired by him. He was absolutely our leader. I just don’t want his nice guy thing to distract you from that. He is a deep, serious and profoundly gifted actor." Can you say Awww?

And Jackman even admitted that he's never felt such closeness with a cast in his movie career.

"I have never had that on a film before," the actor said. "It had the feeling of the closest stage show I have ever been involved with, but it was a film. We will be bonded for life for what we went through."

Les Miserables opens in theaters on Christmas Day. Are you excited to see it? Make sure to bring your tissues.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey movie review:

If you geek out for wizards, trolls and swords, prepare to enter Middle-earth heaven. If fantasy isn’t your thing, then this “unexpected journey” may turn into an unexpected nap. Nearly three hours long, this is the first of three Hobbit movies from director Peter Jackson .

The Hobbit

2 Stars: Perfect for your 12-year-old son

The Hobbit begins with a 20-minute prologue, explaining how the once pristine and magical Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor came to be a place of danger and darkness due to the bad Dragon Smaug. Once the exposition is out of the way, we meet our hero, Bilbo Baggins , a shaggy Hobbit who enjoys the calm and quiet of his hobbit hole.

Bilbo is quite distressed when the Wizard Gandalf the Grey and 13 Dwarves come visit his hole and eat every morsel of food. Turns out, this is the gang’s last meal before setting out on a journey to battle the big, bad Dragon Smaug and restore peace to their land. Urged on by Gandalf, scaredy-cat Bilbo reluctantly decides to join the adventurers — for better or worse.

The Hobbit

From the beginning, Bilbo conflicts with the legendary warrior dwarf Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of the pack, who calls out Bilbo for being a wimp. But the dwarves have more serious matters to contend with, like escaping the Goblin tunnels.

Goblins, trolls, and massive stone giants wreak havoc on the dwarves and the fat-footed hobbit. As they fight their way through this fearsome forest, Gandalf believes Bilbo will be their secret weapon, should they ever reach the Dragon Smaug .

The Hobbit

The best scenes in the film are with Bilbo and Gollum , whom we know from Lord of the Rings. But in The Hobbit, Gollum is 60 years younger and keeper of the magical, golden ring — its powers are unknown to Bilbo, however. Clever, odd and engaging, Gollum is the most interesting creature in this fantasy world.

Cate Blanchett returns as Galadriel, the film’s only female character , but even this lovely actress lacks the ability to inspire this wandering story that is 2 hours and 46 minutes in length.

The Hobbit

In addition to being too long, Director Peter Jackson used what’s sure to be a controversial new technology when he shot the film. Not only is it in 3D, but the special cameras he used recorded 48 frames per second . This translates into twice the amount of detail on the screen, but at times also gives the image a 1980s video quality that fails to impress.

Bottom line: If you’re a Lord of the Rings-lover, hit Starbucks before seeing this lengthy movie. If you like a little more depth with your fantasy movies, go see Life of Pi.

Animated animals took the lead this week in DVD releases, but the top spot isn't the cute and fuzzy friend you'd probably expect.
Ted - Trailer

http://tedisreal.comFamily Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett , a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish...and has refused to leave his side ever since.

1) Ted— When John Bennett was a kid, all he wanted was his teddy bear to come to life. Fast-forward a few years and that wish has become a reality, but it's not exactly the childhood fantasy he dreamed of. Ted is a vulgar party animal who stands between John and his girlfriend, Lori . This is a comedy of epic proportions that will have you laughing out loud, though it does get quite raunchy. Whatever you do, take a grain of salt with all of Ted's advice!

Kristen Stewart's co-stars talk "uncomfortable" sex scenes

The Twilight starlet shows a much more mature side in her new movie, which she took a month to prepare for.

Kristen Stewart, On The Road

Kristen Stewart is all grown up in her new movie On the Road. The Twilight starlet gets naked, does drugs and has threesomes in her latest film, which is an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's famous novel.

But her co-star Sam Riley said shooting the sexy scenes with K-Stew, in which she's totally topless, wasn't exactly a turn-on. "It's a strange thing... I was pretty uncomfortable," he told SheKnows yesterday in NYC. "She was 19; I was nearly 30, married... we're mates. You just sort of do it as quickly as possible, unlike in real life. I don't really see a future for me in erotics."

Kristen plays Garrett Hedlund's girlfriend Marylou in the movie, and their chemistry evolved naturally since they spent an entire month together before filming. "I think it was just being around each other for the four weeks before filming," Garrett explained to SheKnows. "We were all in the same room all day, every day. It was me and Sam and Kristen in this apartment with Walter [Salles, the director], listening to jazz, reading; it was one big study hall. Also, she's not a hard one to get along with, either. She was so dedicated to this."

Director Walter Salles echoed the same sentiment. "She was so knowledgeable about the book," he told SheKnows. "She had such an in-depth understanding about the book and the character that I invited her to do the film if it was ever to be made. It took us five years to get the financing, but during all those years, she remained tied to the project and wanting to do it, and that says a lot about her."

Kristen's not the only one showing skin in On the Road. Garrett is naked during many scenes in the movie, too. "I haven't seen my brother naked as often as I saw Garrett in those six months! It's funny, obviously," Sam said.

"We just got really drunk beforehand," Garrett joked on how he handled his on-screen nudity. "Everybody asks, 'Was it awkward being naked in front of Sam or Kristen?' But they're the least of the worries. It's about the man with the mustache holding the sound boom. That's more awkward."

Sam, who's British and lives in Berlin, said he wasn't familiar with the Twilight saga before meeting Kristen, but she attempted to explain it to him. "Kristen tried to fill [in] what the plot was for the one that's just come out now and it sounded bonkers!" he laughed. "It's like, 'He's a vampire and he's a werewolf and I get pregnant with him because we were dancing and then the child grows at enormous rates and it comes out almost toddler age.' I thought 'This is very unusual children's entertainment.'"

One thing's for certain: On the Road is definitely for adult audiences! The movie hits theaters Dec. 21.

Timberlake tries to get laid in exclusive Trouble with the Curve clip

The Trouble With the Curve DVD release is rounding third and nearly home, so here's an exclusive clip to hold you over until the big day. Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams can't say enough good things about Timberlake's performance.
Justin Timberlake has charm in Trouble With the Curve

Justin Timberlake showcases natural charm in Trouble With the Curve

Gus has always been at the top of his game — quite literally — hailing as one of baseball's greatest scouts. He's been revered all his life, but when his vision starts to go, ironically his life and all that truly matters comes into focus.

When baseball took center stage, Gus pushed aside his loving daughter Mickey, who never fully healed from the neglect. She's an overachiever, having obtained a stellar law degree and moved up the ladder. However, all she's ever really wanted was her father's affection.

Taking a hiatus from her professional endeavors, Mickey invests in a self-proclaimed, "dysfunctional sense of responsibility to make sure is OK," as Adams' character says in the trailer.

It's the final inning in her dad's life and Mickey must get down and dirty in this world of men to bring her father back from the brink. It has its hardships, but Mickey was born into the competitive baseball ideology, and she's as resilient as a seasoned leather glove. And it's not all bad — baseball is, after all, a game.

Games rely on star players and this is no exception. Justin Timberlake, who plays Johnny, is a key contribution to the flick and a real player — though not in the negative connotation. Timberlake's character proves he's ready to play ball, and does what it takes to help Gus and ultimately win over his daughter's heart.

As expressed in this exclusive clip, Timberlake stars in one of his most natural, down to earth, utterly charming roles yet, and his colleagues on set raved about his involvement. He sheds the spotlight for a step back into a small-town guy looking to find his place and a woman to complete the big picture.

This film is convincing. With big names such as Eastwood and Timberlake, it's easy for a movie to get carried away, but Trouble with the Curve features believable characters with a great lens on life.

This flick is great for the entire family and hits stores Tuesday, Dec. 18!

Be sure to check it out or wrap it up just in time for the holidays.

Why The Hobbit's $85M weekend is a disappointment

$

The Hobbit snagged an $84.8 million opening, best ever for December. So why are insiders fretting about the film's box office chances?

Martin Freeman as The Hobbit

Setting a new box office record for a December opening isn't enough for The Hobbit: The film's $84.8 million weekend take is actually disappointing, Entertainment Weekly explains.

What? Why? Because ticket takings plunged 25 percent from Friday to Saturday. This signifies a film's box office is "front-loaded," meaning, all the Middle-earth geeks ran out to see it Friday, and other people aren't as interested in seeing it.

This front-loaded phenom is common these days in big budget movies that go into wide release their first weekend. Back before the late '80s, many movies used to open up first on a few hundred movie screens in metropolitan areas.

They'd get reviewed, and if the takes and reviews were good, then and only then would they go into wide release in more theaters.

The trend now, however, is for gigantic tent-pole pics such as the Harry Potter and Twilight films to open up in thousands of theaters their first weekend. Then, everyone who's a Twi-hard or what have you, goes to see the movie the very first night it opens. Once the hard-core fans are done, the film may or may not catch on amongst the non-converted.

The Hobbit gives Martin Freeman serious geek cred>>

So though The Hobbit's $84.8 million weekend take handily beat out I Am Legend's then-record-setting $77.2 million bow in 2007, insiders are still grumbling that its performance ultimately may not impress.

Reviews for The Hobbit were middling as well. The reviewer for The Huffington Post sighed, "my enthusiasm for ore Hobbit adventures is at an all-time low," while the New York Times reviewer alludes to a "film critic suicide-watch" at the prospect of having to watch a multi-hour Hobbit trilogy.

The Hobbit earned a mediocre 65 percent Fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
