Daniel Craig, best-paid Bond, hates on Kristen Stewart

Daniel Craig is quaking in his James Bond bow tie. Although he's signed on to be the highest-paid 007 ever, he fears a few sparkly vamps have the power to derail Skyfall's box office success.
The Buzz - Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders Reunion for Snow White and the Huntsman 2?

Kristen Stewart is concerned that she may not have as much upcoming work as her co-stars.

Daniel Craig has had his arms around a bevy of Bond beauties, thanks to his highly applauded portrayal of 007, but Twilight's Kristen Stewart as a Bond girl? Craig's gut instinct says, "No thanks."

While appearing on Australia's Kyle and Jackie O Show, Daniel Craig pondered, "Would she make a good Bond girl?" He then jabbed, "No, she's in Twilight."

The sometimes catty Craig went on to explain, "No, I'm being nasty. It's only because the film [Skyfall] is coming out at the same time [as Breaking Dawn — Part 2 in Australia]. We're in direct competition! I'm sure she'd make a great Bond girl."

Sorry Skyfall, Breaking Dawn — Part 2 commands weekend box office>>

Kristen Stewart herself is nearly as wishy-washy about the possibility of joining the ranks of Bond girls. When asked about the possibility while on the red carpet in Los Angeles, she replied, "I'm not sure — I would love to read a few drafts of the script. I choose my roles really instinctually. I would really have to connect with the material."

A Bond brush-off? Not quite.

"I don't know, maybe. I'm not sure, I can't — I am so noncommittal, right?" Stewart sputtered. "As long as I get to have a gun," the Twilight star finally decided. "Yes, hell yeah!"

Skyfall's Bond girls aren't just pretty faces>>

Whether K-Stew gets her Bond-girl gumption together or not, Daniel Craig's going to become a very rich man thanks to those trademark martinis. The man seen here with beauties Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe has signed a $49.3 million deal to portray James Bond in two more flicks.

Would you like to see Kristen Stewart as a Bond girl opposite Daniel Craig?

Breaking Dawn — Part 2 was almost rated R

Thousands of teens lined up to see the last movie in the Twilight franchise over the weekend. But things would have turned out very differently if the ratings board had gotten its way.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Breaking Dawn — Part 2 may not have had the record box office it garnered over the weekend if the MPAA had gotten its way. The film was apparently close to being given an R rating.

"It was a close call, because they did say it was very, very intense," director Bill Condon told MTV.

Condon worked with the agency though and found out what he needed to do to keep the movie appropriate for its main audience: teenagers.

"I wrote a letter [to the MPAA ratings board] and said that this is the only way we could do it, and they were cool [with it]," he said. "They said to pull back a little on the sound, the crunchy [head-smashing/decapitating] sound, and we did, and that got us our [PG-13] rating. There was one [effect] where we rip a head and you kind of see it come apart [that] I was sure we would have more trouble with, but we didn't."

The film opened this weekend to slightly better sales than expected. The final film in the Twilight series earned $141.3 million domestically and $199.6 million overseas. The numbers give the franchise three of the top 10 opening weekends of all time. New Moon from 2009 brought in $142.8 million its first weekend, and last year's Breaking Dawn — Part 1 brought in $138.1 million. However, none of the movies earned enough to come in at the No. 1 spot of all time.

"Last May's The Avengers is No. 1 with $207.4 million," according to the Associated Press. "Batman is the only other franchise with more than one top-10 opening: last July's The Dark Knight Rises and 2008's The Dark Knight ."

Skyfall did well in its second weekend, dropping to No. 2. According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned $41.1 million domestically over the weekend. Steven Spielberg's Lincoln opened in wide release at No. 3, earning just over $21 million over the weekend.

Sally Field "fought like holy hell" for Lincoln

Even Sally Field worried she was too old for the role of Mary Todd Lincoln. But she was willing to go to the mat for it.

Sally FieldSally Field has gained career-high reviews in hot biopic Lincoln, she tells The Hollywood Reporter that director Steven Spielberg didn't want her for the movie.

Though Spielberg had offered Sally Field Mary Todd Lincoln's role in 2005, by the time the film was being cast, he'd changed his mind.

"By the time it was going to be made, the original person [Liam Neeson] had dropped out and Daniel Day-Lewis came on board, and from the time that he first asked me, a little voice inside me said, 'You'll never do it, Field. You'll never do it,'" Field said.

The problem? Her age.

Lincoln movie review: A complex man is brought to light>>

"I'm 10 years older than Daniel and 20 older than Mary Todd Lincoln, and I thought, 'This is going to be a problem.'"

Spielberg shared her worries. "Yes, I don't see you with Daniel. Sorry," he told her. But Field wouldn't give in.

"I said, 'Steven, test me! I'm not walking away!'"

Nice guy Day-Lewis flew in from Ireland "out of the graciousness of his heart" and Field and Day-Lewis did "some bizarre improv, but I became Mary and he became Mr. Lincoln for about an hour!"

Field was nervous about her audition, but it all worked out in the end. "When I got home the phone was ringing, and Steven and Daniel were on the phone saying 'Will you be Mary?'"

Sally Field gained 25 pounds to win Lincoln role>>

I'm thrilled that Field, a fine actress, got this role and apparently did great things with it. But um, "holy hell" means you auditioned? That's holy hell? Really?

Field talked to The Hollywood Reporter as part of a roundtable of actresses, including Anne Hathaway, Helen Hunt, and Amy Adams.

Roberto Benigni commands this brilliant 1997 classic. In regard to the holiday season, it is important we stop to recognize our blessings and our health throughout these chaotic times. Life is Beautiful showcases a Jewish-Italian family caught in the middle of the Nazi Holocaust, reminding us all of the fragility of human life and the strength of familial ties. Benigni must make light of the horrible circumstances he and his family faces, utilizing relentless comedic relief and inspiring his son to keep hope throughout the pain.

It's a Wonderful Life

Although often associated with the Christmas spirit, It's a Wonderful Life is a great film to throw in around Thanksgiving. James Stewart stars as George Bailey, whose guardian angel, Clarence, intervenes on his suicidal contemplations to show him what value his existence truly carries. By illustrating a world without George's interaction, Clarence illuminates the positive impact and the relationships fostered around George, inspiring a new perspective and change of heart committed to his family and his community. It's a Wonderful Life is a great catalyst for reflection, gratitude and service.

Benny and Joon

An often-overlooked Johnny Depp classic, Benny and Joon examines love, friendship and family in some of life's unexpected places. It's lighthearted and fun on the outside: Depp plays an eccentric Buster Keaton fan who falls, quite literally, head over heels for the "ill" sister, Joon of the man, Benny , who took him under his roof. The film also highlights sensitive issues of identity, acceptance, sacrifice and healing. Although it never explicitly defines Joon's condition, I've always been reminded of the spunk and quirkiness exhibited by my younger sister, who has Autism, and personally, this film has always inspired me to remain thankful for the beautiful challenges and curveballs we all face in life. Sometimes the best answers are unconventional — like cooking grilled cheese with an iron!

Benny & Joon - Movie Trailer

http://zuguide.com/Benny-and-Joon.html Benny , a car mechanic, is devoted to caring for his mentally ill sister, Joon . She is a gifted artist but can\'t function in the outside world without his help. When Benny brings home Sam , a drifter he meets by chance, Sam and Joon are instantly drawn to each other. Sam is an eccentric guy who likes to imitate the famous silent movie comedian, Buster Keaton. While Benny has always wanted Joon to make friends of her own, he is concerned that she has fallen for Sam so quickly. Directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik. With Joe Grifasi and Dan Hedaya. Categories: Comedy, Drama, Romance. Year: 1993.For more trailers with Mary Stuart Masterson, please see http://zuguide.com/Mary-Stuart-Masterson.html. Stepmom

This season is all about tradition. For many, although the holidays are chaotic, they symbolize a certain routine and functionality carefully disguised by all the last-minute shopping and cooking to pull it off. But what happens when the routine of life as a whole gets out of whack? What happens when your ex-husband brings a newer, younger mother figure into the picture who steps on your toes left and right? In addition, you've just been diagnosed with a fatal disease, and you're left with quite the conundrum. Susan Sarandon, Ed Harris and Julia Roberts star in this tale of purpose, promise and poise and the passing of the torch as our days go by and tradition is rattled. The film serves as a reminder that change is scary, and asking for help can be equally intimidating, but the persistence and grace of others around us can truly come to our rescue. Stepmom teaches us the importance of trust and acceptance, and the underlying element of mortality demands we appreciate every special moment we have in life.

A chat with the creators of Brave

The movie Brave is a new kind of princess fairy tale. We were lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with the director, producer and storyboard supervisor — just in time for the DVD/Blu-ray release.

Brave animated film

Disney's Brave is not your typical fairy tale. Sure, you have a princess and an enchanted land, but you won't find Merida, the main character, running off into any sunsets with a prince. Nor will you find her slaying an evil witch or sorcerer.

Instead, this animated film from Disney's Pixar studio tells the story of a young, spirited girl who wants to live her own life and plan her own fate. This puts her into constant conflict with her mother, who wants her daughter to live out the life she has planned for her. The mother-daughter dynamic is complicated, and Brave captures that struggle. The film asks you a question that you have to dig into yourself to answer: "If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?"

Besides creating a believable storyline and characters you empathize with, the director and producer also wanted to pay homage to the beauty of Scotland. So we asked director Mark Andrews and producer Katherine Sarafian why they chose Scotland in the first place and how important it was to preserve the country's character in the film.

Disney's Brave

They responded, "It evokes mystery and magic and lure and legend. And you can just see, looking up into those hills, a timelessness to it. It's a great spot to tell a story about those elements. The story is about a girl in her transformative years, and Scotland [is the perfect setting] because it's constantly transforming in front of your eyes. It was just this epic landscape, and once you are there, you think, 'Wow' — you can have magical elements here."

After an 11-day journey through the country, Andrews and Sarafian came home excited and enchanted by the land, the people and their stories.

From the get-go, they knew the basic plot of the story, but as do many movies, it grew and changed over the seven years it took to make. Because movies change so much after their inception, we asked Andrews and Sarafian how much of their vision transformed during production and whether any major elements changed.

Mother and daughter in Brave

"I think from the original vision the big elements are still very much there, in the bones of the film. But once you get down to the details of the actual scenes and how they are laid out and how we find the themes, all that stuff — a lot of stuff was changed and moved.... The key ingredients were there, but the thing that changed the most is what we worked the hardest on, the relationship between Merida and her mother."

One of the most interesting aspects of this film lies in the fact there is no romantic tie-in or a real bad guy or villain. So we asked Sarafian if they received any negative feedback about the absence of those elements.

"The only backlash I've witnessed is the people who are really irritated about the lack of a romantic lead. There are people who really need that happily-ever-after thing. And there are wonderful movies that have done that before us, but that was not at all the film we set off to make."

Although you can't have a movie without a passionate director, producer and team, a Pixar film is nothing without a storyboard supervisor and tireless artists. Brian Larsen, the supervisor, spent hours perfecting each character and each scene so it felt as real as possible. Merida's hair, for example, took almost three years to perfect. We had the chance to sit down with Larsen and ask him about storyboarding process.

Disney film Brave

"The actual story line comes from the directors as an idea and inspiration. They bring on a few story people to bounce ideas. There are no real rules we have; we just start putting it down on paper. And then once you find the character, you get a writer to write the characters, and then we draw them as realistically as we can."

For many people in creative fields, they have off days — days when they are frustrated, uninspired and unmotivated. So we asked Larsen, who draws for Pixar all day long, how he overcomes those feelings and if he faced any days like that when creating Brave.

"It gets so hard sometimes. The least favorite part is when I'm stuck and I can't figure out that problem or [how] to make someone laugh. Or [I'm] trying to create Merida's hair. I try to get inspiration from my colleagues or watch a movie. I usually need someone else to look at it or help get me out of that spot."

Liz and Dick movie review: Violet eyes are crying

$
0
0
Liz and Dick is deliciously fun for its boozy melodrama, 1960’s styling and Lindsay Lohan’s eerie parallels with Elizabeth Taylor herself. But is this made-for-TV movie enough to get Lohan’s career back on track?

Liz and Dick

3 Stars: Perfect for those looking for a guilty pleasure

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor  had an electric connection on film and in real life. Playing a tortured married couple in the film Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, both were nominated for Academy Awards, but only Hollywood-darling Taylor won.

They were married and divorced twice , and it's difficult to say whether their coupling had more to do with love or with ego and delusions of grandeur. I'd like to think it was love.

Meeting for the first time on the set of CleopatraLiz and Dick repel each other like two positive charges. But as the sparks fly, the starlet can't resist the Welsh-born Shakespearean actor, and the affair begins.

Because Liz was married to Eddie Fisher and Dick to first wife Sybil Williams, an international scandal ensued, causing even the Pope to weigh in.

When Dick decides to reconcile with his wife and go back to his family, Liz throws a drunken hissy fit. No one had ever said no to the Hollywood queen before, and she became determined to fight tooth and nail to marry Burton. And she did.Liz and Dick

Grant Bowler captures Burton's deep, resounding stage voice, but with the amount of alcohol he drank and debt he incurred, I can only imagine that Burton's real-life drunken rages were exponentially grander.

Lohan, a talented actress when focused, finds Liz's vulnerability and seems to truly connect to her doomed romance. But as with Bowler's Burton, the real Liz's temper tantrums must have been like earthquakes, not just resulting in a few broken bottles here and there. Still, it is fun to watch Lindsay smash glasses and turn over tables. One can't help but see the similarities in the two actresses. Elizabeth Taylor lived a long life. I honestly hope Lindsay Lohan does, too.

Liz and Dick

With violet eyes, Lohan looks fabulous in diamonds and furs — the filmmakers did a great job re-creating Taylor's iconic style through the various decades. Though sexy, Lohan's raspy voice makes me wish she had changed it for the role.

There are some great lines in the movie, like when Liz asks a hotel attendant to be allowed into Dick's suite. When the employee says no, she rants, "You do know I'm shagging him senseless!"

There are also references to Liz as "Cleo-FAT-tra" and "Cleo, the nympho of the Nile."

As for Lohan's comeback, I'd say as long as she keeps showing up to work, she's well on her way.

Bottom line: Don’t miss this. It is a terrific guilty pleasure, and you’ll be happy you indulged. Enjoy!

Red Dawn movie review: Who’s afraid of the big, red wolf?

$
0
0
These sexy boy-toys man-up to fearlessly lead a gang of teen vigilantes as they battle North Korean soldiers. But could an invasion like this it happen in real life?

Red Dawn

2.5 Stars: Perfect for those nostalgic for the Cold War

Ah, the Cold War. How comforting it was to have one big, bad, nuked-up enemy to hate as opposed to thousands of secretive terror cells all over the world. This remake of 1984’s Red Dawn harkens back to that simpler time when the economy was stellar and our foes were vodka-swilling Soviets.

In this new version of Red Dawn, however, North Korea steps in as the big red wolf, though apparently in the script the invaders were Chinese. This change came in post-production, possibly with the hope that China’s growing film audience would prefer to watch a movie where they weren’t the bad guys. Or maybe it was just to put some irony into the story, considering North Korea’s destitute economy and aging weaponry. Their attempt to launch a rocket was an epic fail, so staging a massive invasion on U.S. soil seems quite unlikely any time soon .

Brothers Jed and Matt Eckert are opposites. The oldest is jar-head Jed, who just returned from serving in Iraq for six years in what may have been an attempt to avoid dealing with his mother’s death. Matt is more sensitive and resents his brother’s absence. Buddy Robert is learning to shoot a gun in what they call "a real-life Call of Duty".

Red Dawn

When the NoKos invade, the brothers, along with some of their high-school buddies, band together and gather as many guns as possible. The group calls itelf “The Wolverines” after their high-school football team and become mythic in the media as they fight for their freedom.

The action in this movie is relentless. I screamed out loud several times, particularly at the graphic car crashes. The pacing is fast and director Dan Bradley’s experience as a stunt coordinator serves the action well.

The one hurdle Bradley couldn’t conquer, however, was the fact that this boots-on-the-ground type of warfare belongs in 1984. After being reared on the War on Terror, I suspect teens today are too savvy to let this far-fetched invasion resonate in their consciousness.

Note to Hollywood: When looking for a truly terrifying enemy, try the weather. Hurricane Sandy caused horrific devastation and now the Jersey Shore looks like it was hit with a nuclear bomb. Sandy was far more powerful and frightening than the North Koreans will ever be.

Bottom line: Brothers banding together, fighting for their freedom, is always compelling. Taking a North Korean invasion seriously isn’t. The action in Red Dawn is well-crafted, just placed in the wrong decade.

Rise of the Guardians movie review: Tooth fairy gets jacked

$
0
0
What does this clever assortment of fabled childhood heroes, ranging from the Tooth Fairy to Santa Claus to the Sand Man, all have in common? They are the guardians of our children’s happiest memories. When a power struggle threatens to turn our kids’ sweet dreams into nightmares, it’s up to Jack Frost to freeze out the Boogeyman, all in 3D.

Rise of the Guardians

3.5 Stars: Perfect for little kids with big imaginations

Jack Frost doesn’t remember that he used to be a human boy. In fact, he has no memory of how he came to be the creator of frosty weather at all. Forlorn, he spends his lonely days sulking because he gets little credit for creating the super-fun snow days and winter wonderlands of the world.

Frost isn’t famous like E. Astor Bunnymund , the Easter Bunny, or North , aka Santa. Nor has he inspired any special holiday or tradition, so he’s baffled when he is summoned by the Man in the Moon to become an official Guardian.

Rise of the Guardians

Pitch Black , the Boogeyman, has an evil plan to stop the world’s children from believing in all the magical Guardians and turn their sleeping dreams into nightmares.

But Tooth , the Tooth Fairy, is the keeper of children’s teeth where their most precious memories are stored. She is devastated when Pitch steals her collection of molars and incisors and begs Jack Frost to help.

Rise of the Guardians

The fun of Rise of the Guardians is the fresh, clever take on these old stand-by heroes we all grew up with. Alec Baldwin amuses with his thick Russian accent, giving North a Soviet past and cranky attitude.

Hugh Jackman plays the Easter Bunny with an Aussie roughness that's unexpected when it comes to the rabbit who hides chicken eggs .

Isla Fisher delights as Tooth, a fluttering pixie obsessed with teeth to the point of awkwardness. Chris Pine brings depth to Jack Frost, particularly when he discovers his emotional past.

Bottom line: Your little ones will certainly enjoy this array of familiar characters given a fresh makeover. In addition, this is the most in-depth character analysis ever of the Tooth Fairy!

Life of Pi movie review: Bengal tiger metaphor for God?

$

We couldn’t imagine how this strange and wondrous best-selling book could be turned into a movie. But director Ang Lee exceeds our wildest expectations when a young man gets shipwrecked on a lifeboat with one very vicious, very hungry wild tiger. Oh, and did I mention it’s a spiritual journey for both?

Life of Pi

4.5 Stars: Perfect for those on a spiritual journey of their own

The story begins in the "French Riviera of India," with a young boy, Picine Patal , who is named after a Parisian swimming pool. After much teasing at school , he shortens his name to Pi, taking full advantage of the mathematical implications.

Life is relatively peaceful in India, especially at the zoo Pi's father owns and operates. Then when the family adds a tiger to their menagerie, the story takes on a deeper meaning.

Just to be clear, the tiger in this film isn't the kind on a cereal box. Richard Parker, as the Bengal is called, is a ferocious carnivore to be feared at all costs. Pi Patel learns this the hard way when he decides to befriend the beast.

When zookeeper dad discovers his son's dangerous plan, he forces the child to watch the tiger eat a live goat through the bars of its cage. Luckily, Ang Lee spares us the visuals, but the violence of the incident feels very real. In one day, Pi goes from a trusting, innocent child to a wary, worldly adult. For the most part, this is a good thing, but it's not without reprecussions.

Life of Pi

When trouble brews in Indian politics, the Patel family decides to flee to Canada, where they can sell all their exotic animals at a profit. Pi, a spiritually adventurous lad, claiming to be a Hindu, Christian and Muslim all at the same time, isn't eager to leave his homeland or first love . Ultimately, though, Pi knows his father is doing what he thinks is best for his family.

As the family sails to North America on a small Japanese boat with a cruel French chef and a Noah's ark's worth of creatures, disaster strikes. A Hurricane Sandy–sized storm capsizes the boat and expels Pi, a wounded zebra, a hyena and an orangutan named Orange Juice onto the same small life raft. Obviously, this is going to be a gruesome dynamic with survival not guaranteed.

Life of Pi

As Pi and the tiger square off, then learn to survive in spite of each other, eventually rely on each other and finally maybe even love each other, it becomes clear this story is not unlike the difficult spiritual journey we are all forced to make.

This movie carefully straddles the line between magical realism and existential terror. The world Ang Lee creates is visually stunning, horribly brutal and often hilariously funny — very much like real life.

Bottom line:  Life of Pi delights cinematically with its breathtaking seascapes and turbulent shipwreck. Expect to scream, laugh and maybe even cry. Enjoy!

Jack The Giant Slayer - Official Trailer #1

http://www.joblo.com - \"Jack The Giant Slayer\" - Official Trailer #1\"Jack the Giant Slayer\" tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend--and gets the chance to become a legend himself.Official Site: http://jackthegiantslayer.comDirector: Bryan SingerCast: Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, Ewan McGregor

Warner Bros just released the latest trailer to Jack the Giant Slayer and it does not disappoint.

Folklore meets reality when Jack , "just a simple farm boy," reignites an ancient war with some larger-than-life foes.

It seems the beanstalk we've all heard of offers the gateway the giants have been waiting for to finally reclaim their place on earth.

To make matters worse, Jack has not only unleashed danger on his fellow countrymen, but Princess Isabelle , who he's grown quite fond of.

Can he make peace before they all get squashed?!

Director Bryan Singer has taken this childhood classic to new heights, combining the timeless elements of legend with the cinematic enterprise of a 3D experience.

Adding to the equation, Ewan McGregor has a staple role in the film, as Elmont, who appears to mentor Jack along his path.

Jack the Giant Slayer seems to remind us all that no matter how small we may feel, willpower conquers the biggest of challenges.

Climb the beanstalk on March 1, 2013!

Hitchcock's chilling Los Angeles premiere

The stars hit the red carpet last night for the Los Angeles premiere of Hitchcock and SheKnows was there to catch all of the action.

JessicaBielHitchcockPremiere

Last night's red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of Hitchcock was chilly — or should we say "chilling"— as the stars came out to honor the master of suspense. The film focuses on the making of Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1960 film Psycho in addition to the working and personal relationship with his wife, Alma.

The movie stars Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock, Helen Mirren as Alma, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles and Scarlett Johansson as his beloved muse, Janet Leigh. SheKnows was there last night and we got the inside scoop on the making of the film.

First down the red carpet was none other than the lovable Jerry Mathers, who starred in the iconic television role in Leave It To Beaver. What a lot of people don't know is that he was a part of the Hitchcock film The Trouble With Harry. His favorite memory involved the legendary director addressing the child star as "Mr. Mathers" each time he spoke to him. Mathers always thought Hitchcock was referring to his father.

Jamie Lee Curtis also walked the red carpet with her gorgeous sister, Kelly, to represent their mother's legendary work with Hitchcock. Curtis told SheKnows, "Don't tell anyone, but this is an embargoed photo" that she showed us on her iPhone. It turned out to be a side-by-side photo of her mother, Janet Leigh, and Johansson playing Leigh in the film.

"Don't they look alike?" she asked us. Indeed they do.

Other notable stars included Biel who was dressed in a stunning black ruffled Gucci dress. She animatedly talked to the press and discussed her wardrobe for the film, which involved lots of girdles — common in that time period.

She did joke, "I would have stolen that girdle, and pretty much everything that I could have."

Toni Collette and Helen Mirren were the final stars from the film to arrive and they didn't disappoint. Colette — who plays Peggy, Hitchcock's personal assistant for four decades — wore a stunning red Alex Perry cocktail dress. The actress gushed about working with the queen herself, Helen Mirren, and told SheKnows, "I want to be Helen when I grow up." We do too, Toni!

Mirren, who wore a black and gold lace Dolce & Gabbana dress for the premiere, exuded all of the elegance of a Dame and an Oscar winner.

She was drawn to the role of Alma because "I had no idea about Hitchcock's private life." She used the 2003 book, Alma Hitchcock: The Woman Behind the Man, written by the couple's daughter Patricia, to understand who the woman really was.

On this night, though, it was the man behind the woman. We found Mirren's husband, director Taylor Hackford, lurking in the shadows supporting this wife's big night. It seems like Mirren had all of the inspiration she needed right there on the red carpet.

Hitchcock hits the big screen on Nov. 23.

Hollywood's favorite Hitchcock films

If you think Psycho is the favorite Hitchcock film of everyone in Hollywood, think again. The stars reveal their favorite films from the master of suspense.

ToniColletteHitchcock

At last night's Los Angeles premiere of the new film Hitchcock, SheKnows went right to the stars to find out which Alfred Hitchcock film they would love to star in if they could head back to the master of suspense's era.

The answers were downright surprising, as not one person mentioned Psycho, even though the new film focuses on the making of the 1960 film. Was it too obvious a choice, or do the cast and crew think the director made films that were better than the cult classic? You decide.

Toni Collette, one of the starts of Hitchcock, told SheKnows that Rear Window was the one film that stuck out in her mind, due to its "voyeuristic" qualities.

The writer of Hitchcock, John J. McLaughlin, knew exactly which Hitchcock films appealed to him, saying, "Lifeboat is my favorite Hitchcock film, or Strangers on a Train, which is my second-favorite film. There's something about the movie on a tiny boat."

Actress Tara Summers — who plays Rita Riggs, Hitchcock's longtime costume designer — went right for the glamour and revealed, "Definitely Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief... why wouldn't you, right?"

We totally agree, Tara. The former princess was the perfect Hitchcock muse.

Author Stephen Rebello — whose book, "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho," inspired this entire film — thinks stepping back into "the Cary Grant role in Suspicion with Joan Fontaine would be divine, or even to be attacked by birds like Rod Taylor in The Birds."

Of course, who doesn't want a bird attack?

Character actor Richard Portnow, who plays Paramount's president, Barney Balaban — who wanted nothing to do with Hitchcock's film Psycho — told SheKnows, "I've done so many villains that I would like to depart and do the James Stewart role in Rear Window."

Everyone was pretty creative with their answers, but we wanted to know Jessica Biel's answer. We were lucky enough to get an answer as she rushed into the theatre.

She hurriedly revealed, "Dial M for Murder!"

So it appears Psycho truly isn't on anyone's list, despite its place in film history and its notoriety amongst filmgoers.

So now, it's your turn. Tell SheKnows what's your favorite Hitchcock film!

Skyfall becomes highest-grossing Bond film of all time

Skyfall just became the highest-grossing film of all time, after being out for only a few weeks. But if you adjust for inflation, the latest Bond film has a ways to go to hit the top.

Only a few weeks after its release, Skyfall has jumped into the history books by becoming the highest-grossing Bond film of all time. The movie recently surpassed the previous record of $168 million set by Quantum of Solace.

According to Box Office Mojo, the numbers are for domestic sales and don't account for inflation, which means Skyfall was really only in competition with the James Bond movies beginning with GoldenEye in 1995. That film ended up grossing just over $106 million. The first film, Dr. No in 1963, raked in just $16 million. However, 1964's Goldfinger made a huge leap and earned $63 million.

The numbers have varied since then, but the franchise didn't hit the $100 million mark until the 1990s. The franchise total is almost $1.8 billion — and that's just domestically.

However, according to Box Office Mojo, if you adjust for inflation, Skyfall is far from the top. The $174 million earned puts it at No. 13 out of 24 films. Thunderball, released in 1965, would have earned $583 million in today's money. Goldfinger would come in today at No. 2 with $526 million.

But since it's only been out for a few weeks, Skyfall has a good chance of overtaking that $583 million goal.

Part of the the franchise's success comes from the Bond girls. James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, recently commented on one actress's wish to be the next Bond girl. Kristen Stewart told a reporter she might be interested in playing the part in the future, but Craig seemed less than happy at the thought.

"No," Craig answered, according to E! News. "She's in Twilight."

Twilight fans might take offense at that comment, but the genres and fans of the two franchises are definitely different. Craig quickly added that he was kidding and that the competition between the two movies is what made him say that.

"No, I'm being nasty. I'm only saying that because it's [Breaking Dawn — Part 2] coming out this weekend, so we're in direct competition with them," he said. "I'm sure she'd make a great Bond girl."

Knowing the James Bond franchise, the people involved are probably already busy working on the next film.

Empire Strikes Back writer hired to help with new Star Wars

Disney seems to be doing all it can to keep Star Wars fans coming back for more. Adding three high-profile writers to the new projects is a good start.

Lawrence Kasdan

The millions of Star Wars fans out there who thought the sale of LucasFilm to Disney might change the purity of the next three films are, time after time, being proven wrong. First, we found out that even though George Lucas had announced he wouldn't direct the films, LucasFilm's Kathleen Kennedy will produce them. Next came the announcement that Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt will pen the script for the first of the new films, Episode VII. But today's announcement may be the best so far.

"Now we know the names of two other writers joining him for the eighth and ninth installments in the historic science fiction series: X-Men: First Class scribe Simon Kinberg, and an old Lucasfilm favorite, Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan," said MTV.

The way the responsibilities will be split is still a little unclear, but StarWars.com is expected to make the official announcement soon.

"The pair will write either Episode VIII or Episode IX — their exact division of responsibilities is yet to be determined — and also will come aboard to produce the films," said The Hollywood Reporter.

Many Star Wars fans seem surprised by the move, but none of them are complaining.

"It's an unexpected move,"Star Wars journalist Adam Rosenberg told MTV. "But you can certainly see the sense in it from Disney's perspective: There's zero downside signing on the writer of the greatest Star Wars movie, and one of film's finest sequels, no less. How can fans not love it?"

The hiring of Kasdan is significant in another way to the overall story. Until now, The Empire Strikes Back was the final film in the franchise. But with his addition as one of the writers for Episodes VIII and IX, Kasdan will again be writing the end to the series.

"I'm thrilled to hear that Kasdan has been approached to return," TheForce.net's Eric Geller told MTV News. "He was instrumental in making The Empire Strikes Back a strong story and concluding the trilogy — and, so we thought until last month, the saga — with Return of the Jedi."

With Star Wars: Episode VII set to come out in 2015, it could be a while before we see the final ending to the franchise.

Tanya Franks: Get to know Lindsay Lohan's Liz & Dick co-star

With the world premiere of Lifetime's Liz & Dick tonight at 9/8c, the media is abuzz with chatter about Lindsay Lohan's turn as Elizabeth Taylor. However, it is the troubled celeb's talented co-star, British actress Tanya Franks, who steals our attention. We caught up with Franks to get the scoop on starring alongside Lohan and more.

Liz & Dick actress Tanya FranksSheKnows: You've been acting since the '80s, but your role in Liz & Dick is your first role filmed in America. What drew you to the script?

Tanya: The story of Burton and Taylor is such a high-profile love affair that it's great to be offered the role of the wife that we never hear anything about. Sybil was an interesting exploration for me, and [it was] lovely to play a character who has so much decency and pride, unlike some of the other characters I have played.

SheKnows: How did you prepare to play Richard Burton's jilted wife, Sybil?

Tanya: I did as much research as I could through the Internet and books. I also managed to track down an audio of Under Milk Wood, recorded in the '50s, that they were both in. Sybil only had a very small role, and that was the only vocal I found.

SheKnows: Here in the United States, headlines about Lindsay Lohan are a dime a dozen. Did you have any trepidation about taking a role alongside her?

Tanya: No, I didn't at all because, to be honest, I don't read much of the gossip in media. So I knew very little about her. I was looking forward to meeting and working with her and interested to see the difference between Hollywood actors and British actors.

SheKnows: Your Liz & Dick producer recently said working with Lindsay was "not for the faint of heart," but the director has praised you in interviews for your "emotionally charged" performance. How do you avoid on-set drama?

Tanya: I try not to cause a drama on set, so therefore it's pretty easy to avoid.

SheKnows: So how was it, actually working with Lindsay?

Tanya: I only had a very small amount of screen time with her; most of my scenes are with Grant [Bowler, as Richard Burton]. We had a few chuckles and chats, and I found her generous to work opposite within a scene.

SheKnows: We suspect you aren't all business all the time, since you refer to yourself on Twitter as a closet mischief maker. Pull any good pranks lately?

Tanya: Uh oh, I've been caught. I am a bit too scared to pull too many pranks. I haven't been brave enough to come out of the closet with my mischief just yet.

SheKnows: Speaking of Twitter, at the risk of sounding slightly creepy, I came across your feed and became a bit enamored with your wit. Any chance you might write a book anytime soon?

Tanya: If someone wants to give me an advance, I would be happy too. I am already in the process of raising finance for my first feature film that I have written.

SheKnows: Do you favor comedy, for which you've been nominated and won several awards?

Tanya: Not favor it particularly. I love it as much as I do drama. It's the characters I favor, whether they be serious or funny.

SheKnows: How do you switch gears from a funny part to something grittier, such as the role of drug addict Rainie Cross in EastEnders?

Tanya: I always go for the truth of the character — the most important thing is to find the truth. So whether it is comedy or drama, the core approach is the same.

SheKnows: You seem to stay pretty busy outside of work with charitable causes. In 2011, you teamed up with entrepreneur/Secret Millionaire Caroline Marsh to form Share-Love. Can you tell us more about that?

Tanya: Share-Love is something I want to continue. Unfortunately, it has come to a bit of a standstill, due to our work commitments and being out of the country, but it is not dead in the water. It just needs a bit more time. I'm an ambassador for the Thomas Cook Children's Charities, which I am proud to be part of, and I support the SOS Villages Children's charity.

SheKnows: All right, you’ve got two U.K.-based projects slated for release in 2013 — when do we get to steal you away again for our screens?

Tanya: As soon as another decent job is offered to me in the States that I would like to be a part of!

SheKnows: Are there any current American shows you watch and would kill for a cameo on?

Tanya: HBO's Girls— tell Lena Dunham I want to play the mum or the aunt of Jessa. I'm hoping she'll know me from Pulling, so do your best to put a word in for me.

Top 10

Find out what topped the charts this weekend!

1

Breaking Dawn — Part 2

For the second weekend in a row, the vampires have held down the top spot, and with $43 million this go, it seems we should get used to them commanding the lead. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson may not be great offscreen these days, but they're untouchable in the epic conclusion of the Twilight saga.

2

Skyfall

Daniel Craig and the 23rd installment of the Bond franchiseSkyfall maintained the No. 2 spot yet again, reeling in some $36 million.

3

Lincoln

Daniel Day-Lewis brings to life the one-and-only Abraham Lincoln in this compelling biopic, holding down third place in its third weekend with $25 million.

4

Rise of the Guardians

The magical tale of holiday spirit and the heroes behind it debuted with an impressive $24 million, and will surely snowball as the Christmas cheer comes near. Join Santa, Jack Frost, The Easter Bunny, and more as they join forces to protect the innocence of children the world over.

5

The Life of Pi

The epic film-interpretation of the Yann Martel novel, The Life of Pi, also debuted this weekend with a notable $22 million, painting the compelling adventure of a seaborne survivor who befriends a vicious Bengal tiger.

6

Wreck-It Ralph

Disney and Pixar's latest production, Wreck-It Ralph, fought for sixth place among all the new contenders, pulling in $16 million, even beating out the debut Red Dawn remake.

7

Red Dawn

Chris Hemsworth commands the new band of Wolverines in the revamped Red Dawn. The high-schoolers may have been able to fend off a homeland invasion, but this debut got completely snubbed out by the vampires and Bond, landing a bottom spot with only $14.6 million.

8

Flight

Flight appears to be on its descent as it drops altitude to the No. 8 seat with $8.6 million in its fourth weekend in theaters.

9

Argo

Ben Affleck has had quite the run with Argo, pulling in a cumulative $136 million to date, but the holiday season will surely blot out the political thriller in the coming weeks.

10

Taken 2

After eight weeks in theaters, Taken 2 finally takes a seat at No. 10.

Has Justice League found its new Batman?

$

The Justice League is in dire need of the Caped Crusader. Now that Bruce Wayne's retired, a new hero has to fill his shoes. Rumor has it another Dark Knight Rises star may bring Batman to the Justice League.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Last summer, Christian Bale said goodbye to Batman. The actor spent the past seven years of his career wearing the cape and mask, and following The Dark Knight Rises, he finally bid adieu.

Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy couldn't have ended at a more inopportune time. As he wrapped his story, Warner Bros. began working on their Justice League movie. Every self-respecting comic book fan knows Batman is a major member of the JLA team.

How can they have Justice League with no Batman? Don't worry, the studio is hard at work finding a replacement. According to HitFix, the new Caped Crusader could be right under our noses.

Who's brave enough to tackle WB's Justice League?>>

[Spoiler alert]

Sources claim The Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt could appear in Justice League as the new Batman. At the end of TDKR, Bruce Wayne passed the torch to Gordon-Levitt's character John Blake. He essentially gave him the key to the Batcave, and access to his arsenal. More or less, Blake became Gotham's new protector.

There's word that next year's Superman reboot Man of Steel might set the stage for the Justice League and the new Bats. Director Zack Snyder hinted that Justice League and Man of Steel's existence could be intertwined.

Hot trailer: Man of Steel is the new Superman>>

It's a formula that Marvel used to set up The Avengers. Every character's film was essentially linked. You can't have the Justice League without Superman or Batman. That's like The Avengers without Iron Man or Captain America.

We doubt Warner Bros. would disappoint fans that way. They've got too much riding on JLA's success.

Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles -- dead or alive.Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South\'s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda , the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.Django and Schultz\'s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie , the proprietor of \"Candyland,\" an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen , Candie\'s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival...

From the brilliant mind of Quentin Tarantino comes a killer take on the South.

It's looking more intense than ever in this new trailer with stars like Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson leading the way on a twisted, revenge-driven bout of justice.

Django Unchained is the story of rough-and-tough former slave Django , whose newfound freedom becomes indebted to the bounty hunter who broke his previous bonds. Together, they're redefining the South one target at a time with each pull of the trigger.

There looks to be some quality action within, but we can definitely expect trademark Tarantino dialogue and a healthy dose of shock value.

In a recent Tarantino interview, the director explained that the film is most assuredly set within a historical context and fueled by the real prejudice of the South, but he's woven in some surprises.

"Every once in a while films don’t play by the rules. It's liberating when you don't know what's happening next," he said in the interview.

At the heart of it all is a love story: the slave trade and a wicked Calvin Candie have stolen Django's wife from him.
