8 Things to know before seeing the Entourage movie

But we were super excited to hear that an Entourage movie had begun filming early last year in Los Angeles. And we are dying to see the drama unfold once again. Before we get too many stars in our eyes (literally, this movie is like a firework of celebrities), let's get some facts straight.

1. It's got the same… everything

For Entourage, all of our favorite characters are back — and they're played by all the same actors (because we know there’s no faster way to ruin a reboot than to have a different actor play the same character — cough, Batman Forever, cough). And that's not all. The series creator, writer and director, Doug Ellin, wears all the same hats for the movie, while Mark Wahlberg continues to reign in the producer chair.

2. It picks up right where it left off

Remember that phone call Ari receives from John Ellis, chairman and CEO of Time Warner, while vacationing in Italy? Well, no surprise here: Ari takes the job as Ellis' replacement — but there's a twist. According to Popsugar, Ellin says the movie picks up about seven or eight months after that cliffhanger in the series finale. We couldn't be happier for Ari's new position, but along with his new corner office comes a whole new stack of problems. Maybe he'll just hug it out.

3. You don't need to watch the series

One of Ellin's goals was to captivate new audiences as well as diehard fans. According to Collider, Ellin says, "We had to imagine that no one had ever seen the show. Obviously, there are some inside jokes that people will get, if you know the show. At the end of the day, you can quickly get into that these are friends from childhood who are living this fantasy life, and you go along for the ride."

4. Vince may be on the market

If Vince had to be summed up in three words, one might say generous, selfless and single — definitely single. OK, so he was in love with Mandy Moore and he had that one overly obsessive relationship with a porn star and, oh yeah, there was that time he got engaged… but, if you look closely in the trailers, you may be surprised (or not surprised) to find his ring finger going solo.

5. "Turtle" may not be such a great nickname anymore

While we've been waiting for the movie to hit theaters, Jerry Ferrara, who plays Turtle, has been hitting the gym. By committing to workouts and healthy eating, he's lost 55 pounds since his Season 1 days when he used to say things like, "Come on, just make out with me. I'll show you where Vince eats breakfast." And we're not the only ones to notice. The new movie takes a few jabs at his new washboard stomach — both figuratively and literally. Enter: MMA champ Ronda Rousey.

6. There'll be cameos galore

One of the best things about Entourage is its real-life celebrity cameos. And for the movie, we're talking over 40 of them! With appearances by Jessica Alba, Maria Menounos, Liam Neeson, Pharrell Williams and Mark Wahlberg, you will definitely get your fill of celebrity sightings. Haley Joel Osment also joins the cast as Travis McCredle, but he's not a cute little boy who sees dead people anymore. This time, he's kind of, well, an asshole. According to Collider, Osment remarks, "It was a lot of fun to come in and play a character who's just a total asshole… it was a really, really fun project to work on."

7. A sequel is definitely possible

"I'll do 20 of 'em," Ellin admits, according to Vanity Fair. "We'll keep doing it, as long as people are interested." IMDb expects the movie will earn a worldwide total of $255.2 million with $38.6 million of it coming from opening weekend. That might not be as much as Vince's Aquaman opening-weekend box office at just over $116 million, but if IMDb's box office predictions come true, the crew might be back to the storyboards for round two before they know it.

8. And speaking of Aquaman

Aquaman is a thing. Even though it's a long way off — expected to open in July 2018 — it will star Jason Momoa (aka Khal Drogo of Game of Thrones). The first official image was released earlier this year. Ellin admits that for the Entourage TV series, they chose the superhero Aquaman because it seemed like the only way it could have been a good movie was if James Cameron directed it. Well, Cameron may not be on board for the real film, but rumored director James Wan will surely… blow us out of the water. Can we please buy tickets already?
