More: This Star Wars: Episode VII spoiler about Han Solo may just melt your brain
And for die-hard fans of the franchise, it's just as if Christmas suddenly dropped into our laps a few days sooner than expected: The 90-second trailer is packed with sneaky references to the earlier films.
Check out the trailer below and then see if you can catch as many Easter eggs as we did.
New Star Wars trailer
1. The soundtrack
The first one is super obvious, but hearing the famous notes of the Star Wars theme play as the camera pans over a desert planet will give fans of the franchise — new and old — all the feels.
2. Skywalker's back
Recognize that voice-over? If you guessed Luke Skywalker, you're right. We already knew Luke would be making a comeback in Episode VII — that was revealed more than a year ago when the casting list, featuring Mark Hamill, was leaked online. But in case anyone was still harboring doubts, we have confirmation now that Luke will be back for the new installment.

3. "The Force is strong in my family…"
That's a line from Return of the Jedi, remember?
4. The scorched Darth Vader mask
Luke burned his father's body at the end of Return of the Jedi.
5. The robotic hand
We can't see exactly who the cloaked figure is reaching out and touching R2-D2. But the robotic right hand tells us it's more than likely Luke, who lost that hand in a lightsaber battle with Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back.
6. Luke's lightsaber
We see a lightsaber being handed off — and we've seen that lightsaber before. It's the lightsaber Anakin Skywalker used when he was young. Obi-Wan Kenobi gave it to Luke in A New Hope, meaning it's also the same one Luke lost when his hand was cut off during his battle with Darth Vader. Who knows how it was recovered.
7. Han Solo and Chewbacca
"Chewie, we're home," a grizzled, gray-haired Han says to his loyal sidekick before the fade-out at the end of the trailer. Just try to find a Star Wars fan who didn't have goosebumps at that moment.
