7 Details on Adam Sandler's new Netflix movie, Ridiculous 6

More: Netflix adds 33 shows and movies in January, cuts 60 favorites

The flick, titled Ridiculous 6, sounds very, very ridiculous, but also like it has the potential to be ridiculously funny. And if Netflix's prior forays into original content are any indication (House of Cards? Orange Is the New Black?), the streaming service's stab at movie-making is going to go just swimmingly. A whole bunch of new details were announced today about the first upcoming film, Ridiculous 6. Here's what we know so far.

More: Adam Sandler, you're an overpaid actor!

1. Adam Sandler is producing the movie (and three others)

Ridiculous 6 is the first of four movies produced by Adam Sandler and his production company, Happy Madison, under a deal with Netflix.

2. It's a "Western spoof"

Blazing Saddles reboot, anyone?

3. The cast is the most ridiculous thing announced so far

The Wrap reported Tuesday that Ridiculous 6 will star Sandler alongside Taylor Lautner, three-time Oscar nominee Nick Nolte, country singer Blake Shelton and comedian Whitney Cummings, all alongside the regular cast of Happy Madison actors that includes Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice. Also rumored to be on board? Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell and Lavell Crawford. It's a surprising mix of names, to say the least.

4. Ridiculous 6 was passed up by Sony and Paramount

Both major studios said "no, thanks" to the Adam Sandler film before Netflix snatched it up.

5. Production begins in February…

… but there's still no word on when Ridiculous 6 will hit Netflix.

6. This will be Shelton's acting debut

Shelton's never acted before, but he's no stranger to being in front of a camera — he's been a judge on The Voice since the show debuted.

7. The plot features some famous names, too

According to The Wrap, insiders described the plot: Sandler will play an orphan raised by a Native American tribe and Lautner, Schneider, Wilson and Terry Crews will play his half-brothers. Nolte is Sandler's long-lost father, Forte and Trejo are leaders of rival gangs, Shelton will play Wyatt Earp and Vanilla Ice will play Mark Twain.
