Divergent doesn't debut until later this month, but its first review is already online. Who's the lucky critic? It's none other than Veronica Roth, the author of the Divergent book series. It makes sense that the woman who started it all got first dibs on the final product.

Roth attended a special screening of the film in Los Angeles and recounted the experience on her website. Since Roth knows Divergent inside and out, she could easily be its harshest critic. When any material is adapted into another medium, there are always changes. Some, the original creator agrees with, and some he or she doesn't. Thankfully, the filmmakers earned Roth's stamp of approval.

She wrote, "Even though I am so familiar with this story, I clearly remember grabbing the arms of my chair when Tris runs to catch the train after the Choosing Ceremony because I was nervous that she wouldn't make it." Roth also acknowledged the film's leads, Shailene Woodley and Theo James, for their standout performances.

"If I start calling people out specifically, I'm just going to gush about everyone," Roth explained. "But since Tris is very much the anchor of the series, and Four is of particular interest to many of you, I feel like I should say that Shailene Woodley as Tris and Theo James as Four are everything I hoped for (or maybe more than I dared to hope for)."

If that doesn't get you excited for the movie, we don't know what will.

Divergent opens in theaters March 21.
